Meeting IFATS consortiumThe first phase of IFATS project is almost achievedThe first phase of IFATS project (concept definition and validation) is actually almost achieved. But the consortium is still active, preparing the next phase that should feature the realisation of a large scale demonstrator for IFATS. Because IFATS concept is a breaktrhough in term of future air transport organisation, raising many issues (not only technical, but also societal, political or economical), IFATS partners are actively commited towards dissemination activities. You will find here under a list of meetings and events where you can meet IFATS community. For all these events, communication supports and press information have been released, so please di not hesitate to contact us for more information on this matter. If you are interested in IFATS publications, you can find a full list of publications in the page "Publications and results". ![]() Salon du BourgetLe Bourget, France, June 18-24 2007Find information about IFATS on the stand of ONERA at the Salon du Bourget (Hall 2B - Stand L11 - K28) Infotech@Aerospace (AIAA), Ronhert Parc, CaliforniaAIAA's premier event adressing information-enabled aerospace technologies, systems, and capabilitiesPresentation by ONERA of a paper related to IFATS. IFATS Final meetingMarch the 20th of 2007, Châtillon, FranceOn the 20th of March 2007, the Innovative Future Air Transport System project's Consortium will organise its final meeting. This will be the opportunity for us to present the IFATS concept and the last results of the project. The IFAT System will be explained to the audience through presentations prior to a round table discussion about the ways to pioneer the air transport of the future. The anticipated agenda is as follows: - Effect of weather forecast accuracy on trajectory planning (Technion) - Autonomous take-off and landing (IAI) - Trajectory re-planning for weather avoidance (Technion) - Communication links and networks (Thales) - Aircraft health monitoring (Patras) - Autonomous separation provision and collision avoidance (CIRA) - Safety analysis (IAI) - Certification issues (Onera) - Aircraft cost estimation (IAI) - Airport ground traffic organisation(Onera) - Air traffic simulations (DLR) - Performance measurement (Erdyn) - User Group outputs (Alenia) - Social acceptability (Erdyn) - Future ATS Roadmap (Onera) IFATS Public WorkshopDecember the 14th of 2006On the 14th of December, the Innovative Future Air Transport System project Consortium will organise a workshop to present the IFATS concept and the results of the project. The IFAT System will be demonstrated in detail and explained through real time simulations and presentations prior to a round table discussion about the ways to pioneer the air transport of the future. Registration to this event that will be hosted by DLR (Braunschweig, Germany) is open until the 17th of November 2006. Please contact ifats@erdyn.fr to get an invitation for this workshop. The workshop is free of charge, but due to infrastructure limitations, reservations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The anticipated agenda is as follows: IFATS ninth technical meeting (TRM9)26,27 and 28 of September 2006The 9th technical meeting of IFATS will be held from the 26th to the 28th (morning for the management meeting) of September 2006 in Patras, Greece. Summary of the current status of the project4D trajectories concept where aircraft are flying pre-programmed flight pathsThe definition phase of the project has introduced a 4D trajectories concept where aircraft are flying pre-programmed flight paths from gate to gate, with a required accuracy depending on the density of the traffic. 4D trajectory contracts are negotiated between aircraft and the ground segment, they provide conflict free flight paths: aircraft have to remain in “freedom bubbles” (see figure) or ask for new contracts. This concept is supported by a network-centric architecture making all aircraft and ground segment stations as sensors of the overall system. This architecture enables a very accurate knowledge of the wind field and of other events having an impact on the performance of the system. ![]() First Year Project ReviewPartners met in Toulouse on June 27/28 and 29th of 2005IFATS Project is one year old now and first technical results have been discussed during a 3 days meeting held in Toulouse and hosted by ONERA.
