I often say is a birds nest considered natural but a house – it usually stumps people and I have yet to get a good answer.

I think just a way to distinguish between human made objects and because we are human it is useful to see how our decisions and actions affect our surroundings. Also in general man made objects or processes have a larger environmental impact than those by other species.
